Quick Intro: Who am I?
Hello! Thank you for taking the time to check out my blog. My name is Rachel and I’m currently in the Paralegal Education program at Humber College. After completing this diploma program, I plan to obtain my paralegal license and continue with the Bachelor in Paralegal Studies degree, also at Humber. My end goal is to attend law school and become a criminal defence lawyer and also focus on wrongful convictions and prison reform.
All the posts you find in my blog will be law-related, and the majority will have a core focus on prison reform and justice reform – the two areas of law for which I have the strongest passion. I will be focussing on North American law, not just Canadian law. I currently live in Ontario; however, I hope to complete a US and Canadian law degree, with hopes of practicing in both countries.
In my spare time, I enjoy yoga, going to the gym, camping, attending concerts, reading, and writing. Additionally, I work as a freelance social media coordinator and content creator. I hold certifications in yoga instructing, flexibility specialist, and group fitness class instructing. I’m always searching for new ways to better myself and expand my learning.
Prison reform and justice reform hold a special place in my heart because a close friend of mine was wrongfully convicted of a crime he did not commit. It has shed a light for me on the flaws in the justice systems in North America and given me insight on things that can be done to change it. I hope that throughout my career I will be able to find some way to make a difference in the justice system, whether it be big or small.
